5 Ways Doulas Can Celebrate World Doula Week

One of the best and easiest ways to think of new social media post ideas is to take advantage of national holidays - everything Small Business Saturday to things like Cesarean Awareness Month. But for doulas, there is no better week than World Doula Week!

Celebrated the week of the spring equinox as a nod to fertility, 2024 will see World Doula Week starting March 22nd.

If you're looking for ways to celebrate World Doula Week and tie it into your marketing, look no further!

Here are 5 of my favorite ways to use World Doula Week to spread the word about your business.

ShAre Testimonials

Part of World Doula Week is about sharing the importance of doulas with the general public, both to bring awareness to the work and to promote your individual services. If you have any great reviews, now is the time to share them! Simple graphics with impactful quotes can be more compelling to new clients than anything you write yourself.

Not sure you have a testimonial? Reach out to some recent clients and ask them for a quote, or better yet, an online review that you can use. Even if you don't use these during World Doula Week, keep them in your back pocket for future posts!

Revamp Your Website

Whatever you do to celebrate World Doula Week, hopefully it will mean a lot of new visitors to your website!

This is the perfect reason to invest in a website overhaul or a brand new doula website, which is easier than ever with a doula website template. Since this package includes everything from design to copywriting to domain installation, you'll be able to spend your time driving traffic to the website instead of learning to build it!  These doula website templates usually take about 2 weeks to get up and running.

Whether you already have a website or need to start from scratch, a brand new website template is the perfect way to invest in your business and highlight the important work you do as a doula.

Then, during World Doula Week, be sure to share a link to your website anywhere and everywhere!

Schedule Social Media Posts

World Doula Week is a great excuse to post every day across your social media, even if you normally don't.

It can be helpful to pick a "theme" across each day - post a fact about doulas each day, or a tip for pregnant moms, or a favorite story about a client that you'd like to share. Keep the graphics similar so that they feel like a set and you have a great story to tell across the week.

The easiest way to do this is to sit down the weekend before and make all the posts at once, then schedule them to go out each day. This means you won't forget a day if you get called to a client, and you can rest easy all week knowing you have content ready to go.

Do you often struggle with “what to post” on social media? Join My Doula Village and you get a calendar of social media post ideas every single month! You also get a $100 credit to use on stock photography from Lem & June Collections.

Me with my fellow local doulas a few years ago! Collaborating with other doulas is such a great way to build a buzz during World Doula Week!

Join a Local Event

Is there a local event this week where you can set up a booth? It may be an event for expecting parents, a networking event, or even just a general springtime festivity. If there is a way to connect in person, do it! You may even get together with other local doulas or birth workers to have a joint table that calls out World Doula Week and offers information.

No event to sign up for? Then start one with your local network! Even a simple doula meet and greet can be a wonderful way to give back to your community and connect face-to-face with future clients.

Host a Giveaway

One surefire way to draw some attention is to host a giveaway on your social media in celebration of World Doula Week. Something small and simple is best - branded merchandise, a gift basket of some of your favorite postpartum items, or a gift card to a local restaurant are all perfect options. You don't want to give away your services for free, but something related to your work and appealing to expecting parents can be a perfect option.

Be sure that you promote a giveaway in advance and then do the drawing as a part of World Doula Week. You can even go live on social media for the drawing!

However you choose to celebrate World Doula Week, remember that it's about the important work we do and how we can share that with the community. It's also about celebrating ourselves, so after you've brainstormed and prepared your marketing strategy, take a moment to do something for yourself and relax. You deserve it!
